Fruit
Jonagold
A tier
Jonagold crosses Jonathan and Golden Delicious into large, bi-colour fruit with honeyed aroma and lively acidity—excellent fresh and superb in European baking. Flesh is juicy and breaking-crisp when right from cold storage. Popular in Belgium and other EU orchards as much as in its New York origin story. Eat out of hand, bake into tarts, or sauce. Size impresses in fruit bowls and gift packs. Storage is good under proper controlled atmosphere. A flavour-forward alternative to blander yellows and reds that only look the part.
