Fiano di Avellino
Fiano di Avellino is the DOCG expression of Fiano from Irpinia’s hills east of Naples: honeyed orchard fruit, hazelnut, floral notes, and a dense, almost waxy texture over firm acid and volcanic mineral. Compared with generic Campanian Fiano, Avellino wines often show more concentration, length, and capacity to age toward toast and dried fruit. Lees contact and careful bottle age reward patience; heavy new oak is usually avoided so the site’s smoky-honey signature can speak. At table it elevates roast fish, white meats with herb crusts, truffle-light pasta when available, and medium-aged cheeses. Culinary reductions gain nutty depth for cream sauces and poultry—use a mid-quality bottle rather than ultra-premium cellar wine. This is Fiano at its most structured and food-serious.
