Falanghina
Falanghina is a Campanian white with citrus, green apple, pine resin hints, and a saline-mineral finish, especially from volcanic soils around Benevento and coastal zones. Body is medium, acid lively, and aromatics brighter than everyday Trebbiano yet less honeyed than Fiano. Stainless-steel versions dominate; some producers experiment with amphora or light oak for texture. The grape’s revival paralleled Campania’s broader quality white renaissance. Excellent with mozzarella, grilled squid, lemony pasta, and herb-roasted vegetables. Deglaze seafood and light tomato sauces; Falanghina’s pine-citrus edge suits southern Italian cooking without the weight of oaky international whites. Serve cool, not freezing, to keep the mineral note clear.

History
Classical sources and later scholarship link Falanghina-type vines to ancient Campanian whites.
Estate revival in Campania restored Falanghina as a commercial dry white of quality.
DOC growth and exports made Falanghina a familiar name on Italian restaurant lists abroad.
