Teroldego

Beverage

Teroldego

Teroldego is Trentino’s flagship red of the Campo Rotaliano—dark cherry, plum, and herbal notes with juicy acid and medium-plus tannin, often more approachable young than Lagrein yet capable of depth. Related genetically to other northern Italian reds, it shows pure fruit when yields are controlled. The classic glass is inky but not heavy, built for mountain and valley tables. Cook with Teroldego for polenta and game, mushroom ragù, and pork braises common to Trentino; short reductions keep the cherry-plum core. It is flexible at the stove—structured enough for meat, fresh enough for tomato-herb sauces without turning syrupy.
