Colheita Port
Colheita Port is a single-harvest tawny: wine of one year aged in wood for at least seven years (often much longer) and bottled with vintage and bottling dates on the label. Colour and flavour track long oxidative ageing—amber-gold, walnut, dried citrus, caramel—while retaining the identity of a specific harvest rather than a multi-year age blend. It sits between age-indicated tawnies and vintage bottle-aged Ports in the quality story. Serve Colheita cool with crème caramel, almond tarts, and hard cheeses. In cookery it behaves like fine tawny: nutty pork glazes, butterscotch dessert sauces, and refined pan finishes where vintage fruit would be too purple and primary.

History
Single-year cask-aged Ports evolved into the Colheita category distinct from blended tawnies.
Lodge practice of dating harvest and bottling clarified Colheita for export buyers.
Regulatory minimum ageing and labelling rules fixed modern Colheita Port standards.
