Indian Vanilla

Indian Vanilla

B tier

Indian vanilla is planifolia grown mainly in Kerala, Karnataka, and other humid southern districts—an origin that expanded when global prices soared and farmers sought high-value vines. Beans can be excellent when pollination and curing are meticulous, but the sector is younger and less famous than Madagascar or Mexico. Aroma profiles trend creamy-planifolia with local curing signatures. Available through Indian gourmet spice channels and some export grades for ice cream and bakery. Support traceable farms; curing expertise is the bottleneck more than vine survival. Use like other planifolia beans in custards and extract, tasting each lot before committing large production runs.
