Silver Needle
S tier
Silver Needle (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) is China’s most celebrated white tea, composed almost entirely of plump spring buds from large-bud Camellia sinensis sinensis cultivars such as Fuding Da Hao and Fuding Da Bai. Buds are carefully plucked, withered over days, and dried with minimal mechanical working so silvery down remains visible and oxidation stays very low. Core origins are Fuding and Zhenghe in Fujian; bud size, down density, and harvest timing determine top grades. The liquor is pale, honey-melon sweet, and delicately floral with almost no bitterness when brewed gently, offering a soft, silky mouthfeel. Silver Needle is a luxury white tea for mindful steeping, cold brew, and special-occasion service rather than everyday bulk drinking.
Also known as: Fuding Bai Hao Yin Zhen, Zhenghe Silver Needle, Bai Hao Yin Zhen, Yunnan silver-bud white (related style, different leaf base)
