Farmed Striped Bass
A tier
Farmed striped bass includes pure Morone saxatilis and widely sold sunshine bass hybrids (striped bass × white bass) from US aquaculture. Flesh is consistently mild, moist, and medium-firm with fewer seasonal swings than wild fish. Size and trim are uniform for restaurants and retail. Pan-sear, roast, or grill as you would wild striper; farmed fish often carry slightly more fat. Quality varies by farm—firm flesh and clean smell are the tests. Hybrid farmed bass is sometimes milder and a touch softer than wild coastal stripers.
