Pineapple Sage

Herb

Pineapple Sage

B tier

Pineapple sage (Salvia elegans) is a tender, bright-green sage with a clear pineapple-fruit aroma and scarlet tubular flowers that hummingbirds love. Leaves are softer and fruitier than grey culinary sage—no resinous stuffing punch. Tear into fruit salads, iced teas, salsas, and desserts; fry lightly for a sweet-herbal crisp. Do not substitute one-for-one in poultry stuffing. A summer annual or tender perennial in cold climates.
