Grain
Brown Rice Type
B tier
Brown rice type means any rice sold with bran and germ intact—long, medium, or short—not a single cultivar. The bran adds fibre, oil, and a nutty taste while slowing water entry, so cook times jump versus white of the same variety. Shelf life is shorter because bran oils can turn rancid in warm cupboards. Simmer with extra water or pressure-cook; a soak improves tenderness and even hydration. Use for grain bowls, sushi when explicitly labelled brown sushi rice, and health-leaning pilafs. Store cool and airtight. Texture stays firmer and more rustic than polished white counterparts.
