Purple Reishi

A tier

Purple reishi is the trade name for dark Ganoderma (often G. sinense)—caps ranging plum to near-black, sold sliced for long teas. The cup reads earthier and sometimes softer-bitter than screaming red reishi, though both are medicinal-bitter, not culinary-umami. Colour markets the difference. Blend with red reishi or drink alone. Tough fibres remain inedible; always strain. Store dried pieces airtight away from light to protect colour.
