Funghi
Ganoderma sinense
A tier
Ganoderma sinense is the dark purple-black “purple reishi” of Chinese tradition—another hard bracket used in decoctions, with a colour story distinct from red lingzhi. Flavour is still bitter and woody; some tea blenders prefer it for darker liquors. Caps lack the bright red lacquer of classic red forms. Simmer dried slices as with red reishi. Less common in Western shops but present in Chinese medicinal markets. Not a tender edible mushroom regardless of colour.
