Fruit
Red Lake
S tier
Red Lake is a classic North American red currant cultivar—long strigs of medium-large bright berries, reliable yields, and standard jelly quality. Flavour is tart-clean; bushes are productive in cold climates. Long the default recommended red currant in US/Canadian extension lists. Process into jelly; freeze extras. Full ripe improves sugar slightly but keeps acid backbone. Plant in sun with good air. Still a benchmark against newer European cultivars.
