Fruit
Victoria
S tier
Victoria is Britain’s iconic dual-purpose European plum—oval pink-red fruit with golden freestone flesh, generous crops, and flavour that swings from sharp when firm to honeyed when soft. Trees set heavily, sometimes biennially; the fruit is the default English plum for crumbles, jams, and lunchboxes. Skin is thin with a light bloom. Poach, bake under crumble topping, bottle in syrup, or eat ripe from the tree with a napkin. Less tannic than damsons, sweeter and larger than many cookers. Outside the UK, similar oval red-gold European types fill the same role under local names.
