Perry Pear Cider
C tier
Perry pear cider is the grocery compromise: pear juice (often dessert fruit) fermented or blended on a cider base so the bottle can say pear without a true perry orchard. It is usually sweeter, simpler, and more "pear drop" than traditional perry. Some honest makers use the phrase for a cider-perry blend; many use it for a flavoured cider. It will not give you tannin in a pork sauce. Drink it cold if you like it; do not substitute it in a recipe that asked for traditional perry. If you want the real thing, look for perry pears by name and a lower, drier finish.
