Hulless Oat
A tier
Hulless oat is the culinary/agronomy label for naked oats that shed their husk at harvest—sold as whole food groats with bran intact and no tough hull to remove. Texture when cooked is creamy-chewy; taste is classic oat with sometimes a deeper grain note. Ideal for home milling into fresh flour. Substitute for covered oat groats one-for-one in porridge. Store cool and airtight; exposed bran can go rancid sooner than heavily stabilised commercial flakes. A favourite of small farms and CSA grain shares.
