Red Gold
A tier
Red Gold is a highly coloured yellow freestone nectarine whose name tracks the deep crimson wash over golden ground that catches the eye in bulk displays. Flesh is yellow, aromatic, and juicy at full ripeness, with a sweet-tart balance closer to classic dessert nectarine than candy-white styles. It has been a dependable named type for commercial and garden plantings in warm temperate zones. Excellent raw, in rustic tarts, or halved and roasted beside pork or duck. The vivid skin makes unpeeled slices look dramatic on plates. Wait for fragrance; colour develops before full sugar in some seasons, so blush alone is not enough.
