Sahiwal is a premier dairy zebu (Bos indicus) from the Punjab region of Pakistan and India, renowned among tropical breeds for milk yield under heat. Milk is fuller than many zebu types, with a slightly sweet flavour suited to South Asian drinking milk, chai, yoghurt (dahi), and sweets. Sahiwal milk performs well in khoa, paneer, and ghee traditions. Fat can be good for an indicus breed. Crosses with Holstein (e.g. in tropical dairying) aim to keep heat tolerance while lifting volume—pure Sahiwal remains a quality tropical dairy choice.
