Fruit
Satsuma
S tier
Satsumas (Citrus unshiu) are cold-hardy, seedless, very easy-peel mandarins with delicate melting flesh and early season sweetness—central to Japanese and Gulf Coast US citrus culture. Skin is puffy and loose; segments are tender. Milder and less acidic than many tangerines. Ideal for children and delicate desserts; excellent canned in syrup in Japanese tradition. Handle gently—flesh bruises. Early autumn–winter windows vary by region.
