Citrus reticulata is the mandarin species complex—loose-skin easy-peel citrus with sweet segments, from clementines and satsumas to tangerines and many Asian cultivars. Peel is fragrant and typically slips free; seeds vary by type. They are ancestors and parents of many hybrid easy-peelers. Snack out of hand, juice lightly, zest for baking. Species frames an enormous cultivar range rather than one flavour. Peak seasons cluster in winter for many markets.
