Meat
Lleyn
B tier
Lleyn sheep from the Llŷn Peninsula of north-west Wales are white-faced, medium-sized maternal ewes selected for prolificacy, milking ability, and easy-care outdoor systems. Since the late twentieth century they have expanded far beyond Wales as a commercial alternative to traditional mule structures. Lleyn lambs grow evenly to neat supermarket weights with mild, tender meat and moderate fat—reliable for everyday roasting and grilling. Terminal sires over Lleyn ewes produce consistent retail carcasses; pure Lleyn meat remains approachable for diners who prefer less assertive hill flavours.
