A tier

Marumi is a round kumquat with slightly thicker sweet peel and aromatic character—favoured for preserves and whole decoration. Tartness is present but the round form and perfume distinguish it from nagami ovals. Less dominant in some Western bins but important horticulturally. Preserve whole; use as garnish; eat fresh if you enjoy stronger peel sweetness. Good candying candidate. Seek Japanese and specialty growers.
