SunGold is Zespri’s flagship yellow kiwifruit brand cultivar—vivid gold flesh, very sweet tropical flavour, smooth bronze skin, and strong global marketing. It rebuilt and expanded gold kiwi after earlier Hort16A (Zespri Gold) vine disease crises. Texture is juicy and aromatic at soft-ripe stage. Ideal out of hand, in kids’ snacks, and for chefs wanting less tart kiwi. Often sold under brand stickers rather than generic “gold.” Ripen like other kiwis; refrigerate once soft.
