Bruno is an early New Zealand green kiwifruit cultivar with elongated fruit, dark flesh tone relative to Hayward, and a strong flavour that some prefer fresh even if storage trails the export king. It was important in early commercial diversification before Hayward fully dominated. Fuzzy skin and green seedy flesh match classic deliciosa eating. Seek from specialty or older plantings; rare in anonymous retail. Good for early local seasons and tasting against Hayward. Soften fully for best aroma.
