Actinidia deliciosa is the fuzzy green kiwifruit species that built global trade—brown hairy skin, emerald flesh, edible black seeds, and a bright sweet-tart flavour with tropical and strawberry-leaning notes. Fruit is climacteric; hard market kiwis finish softening off the vine with ethylene. Vines are dioecious unless using specialty self-fertile cultivars. Fresh slices, pavlova topping, smoothies, and juice all start from A. deliciosa when green kiwi is specified. Fuzzy skin is usually peeled. New Zealand, Italy, Chile, and others dominate volume; Hayward is the historic clone within the species.
