Abbott is an early-ripening historic green kiwifruit cultivar from New Zealand’s founding set—elongated fuzzy fruit, green flesh, and a role in proving commercial Actinidia culture before Hayward’s storage superiority won export. Flavour is classic sweet-tart green kiwi when properly ripened. Rare outside collections and old vines. Growers use Abbott for early local fruit rather than long storage programmes. In the kitchen treat as Hayward-style green kiwi. Soften off-vine and peel to serve.
