Fruit
Li
S tier
Li is a large roundish Chinese jujube cultivar prized for fresh eating—thick flesh, smallish pit relative to size, and a crisp apple-like bite when mahogany-ripe. It is among the most planted fresh-market jujubes in California and other New World orchards. Flavour is sweet with light caramel notes as it colours fully. Eat out of hand like a crisp apple; also dries well though some prefer Lang for drying. Harvest when colour is mostly brown for peak fresh quality. Handle carefully—large fruit shows bruises.
