Alba is the white-flower cultivar designation of H. officinalis—parallel to Rosea for pink—used when gardeners want named colour stability rather than mixed seed. Stems and leaves match the species; flowers open white without blue anthocyanin flush. Culinary strength remains high for a mint-family bitter herb. Prefer Alba when a white knot-garden grid must stay uniform year to year. Use leaves sparingly in the same roles as blue hyssop. Save seed carefully if you need to preserve white—open pollination with blue neighbours reintroduces colour.
