Pearled Farro
A tier
Pearled farro is farro (usually emmer) abraded to remove much of the bran, cutting cook time to about 15–25 minutes and yielding a paler, tenderer grain. Flavour is still nutty but less bran-earthy than whole farro; the trade-off is speed and softer bite. Italian “perlato” packs dominate weeknight farro cooking. No soak required for most pearled products. Ideal for last-minute salads and farrotto. Not identical nutritionally to whole farro—read labels if bran matters.
