Poultry
Silkie
B tier
Silkie eggs are small-to-medium cream or tinted eggs from the fluffy Chinese ornamental breed, with a fine flavour and a reputation in some East Asian food cultures for use in restorative soups when incubated eggs (balut-adjacent traditions differ) or fresh eggs are specified. Fresh Silkie eggs cook like delicate chicken eggs with a slightly richer yolk feel for their size. Ideal for soft boiling and children’s portions. Layers are not industrial champions—expect boutique cartons from keepers of pet and show Silkies.
