Vegetable
Miyashige
A tier
Miyashige is a traditional Japanese daikon with a white root often showing pale green near the shoulders—medium-long, fine-textured, and excellent for fresh grating and light cooking. Flavour is mild with a clean finish when grown in cool soil. Home gardeners outside Japan know the name from heirloom seed lists. Grate for oroshi; pickle; simmer briefly. Not the absolute longest industrial type. Quality peaks in autumn roots after heat has passed.
