Howes is a late-season classic cranberry—firm, good-keeping berries that helped extend the harvest and storage window in traditional bogs. Colour is solid red; size medium; acid high. For decades it partnered earlier types to stagger wet and dry harvests. Excellent for late sauce packs and fruit that must hold. Fresh keeping quality was a historical selling point. Modern Stevens-heavy bogs reduced pure Howes stands, but the name remains a reference late cultivar. Bounce test still applies.
