Fighting Conch
B tier
Fighting conch (Strombus pugilis and related smaller strombids) appears in some regional Caribbean and Gulf fisheries as a smaller, sometimes substitute conch meat. Flavour is similar but yield is lower; shells differ from the classic queen flare. Use as for queen conch after thorough cleaning and tenderising. Confirm species when sustainability of queen conch is a concern—smaller strombids are not always a perfect culinary swap but can be excellent local eating.

History
Local fisheries used fighting conch as everyday meat where queen was scarce or reserved.
Some markets labelled mixed strombid meat generically as conch for fritters.
