Wyandotte
B tier
Wyandotte is an American dual-purpose breed with a rose comb, rounded compact body, and many colour varieties—Silver Laced being the original and best known. Developed in the late nineteenth century for cold climates, it lays brown eggs steadily and produces a plump table bird without the extreme growth of modern broilers. Meat is moist and well-flavoured for roasting and frying when birds are finished at a moderate age. The rose comb reduces frostbite risk, making Wyandottes practical northern homestead chickens for eggs and occasional meat rather than intensive production alone.

History
Silver Laced fowl later called Wyandottes were developed in the northern United States from multiple utility crosses.
The American Poultry Association recognised the Silver Laced Wyandotte as a distinct dual-purpose breed.
Golden Laced, White, Black, and other colour varieties were added as breeders expanded the type.
Wyandottes ranked among leading American farm breeds for eggs and meat before hybrid specialisation.
Commercial hybrids reduced purebred flocks, yet exhibition and small-farm Wyandottes remained popular.
Colour variety diversity and dual-purpose utility sustained global backyard interest in the breed.
