Transylvanian Naked Neck

C tier

Transylvanian Naked Neck is a hardy dual-purpose breed from Transylvania, defined by a largely featherless neck caused by a dominant gene, improved heat tolerance, and efficient plucking for the table. Birds produce lean, well-flavoured meat and respectable egg numbers under free-range or mixed farm conditions. Culinary reputation emphasises practical carcass quality: easier processing, good roasting and stewing performance, and a clean poultry flavour suited to Central and Eastern European cookery. Related naked-neck genetics also appear in modern tropical meat hybrids, but pure Transylvanian type remains a heritage dual-purpose fowl.
