Murrah is India’s premier dairy buffalo from Haryana and surrounding states—jet black, tightly curled horns, and exceptional milk yield. Meat arrives mainly as male calves and cull dairy animals rather than specialised beef-style finishing. Young Murrah meat is fine and mild for buffalo; cull cows are darker and best slow-cooked in South Asian curries and stews. Export of genetics made Murrah blood common in improved dairy herds worldwide, influencing meat by-product streams far from India.
