Fruit
Cavendish
S tier
Cavendish is the AAA dessert banana group that supplies nearly all export fruit to temperate markets—medium curved yellow fingers, mild sweet cream flesh, and reliable ripening from green gassed fruit. Flavour is gentle and familiar rather than intensely aromatic like some local tropical types. Thin peel yellows with brown sugar spots as starch converts. The default smoothie, lunchbox, and baking banana worldwide. Ships hard green and ripens in controlled rooms—true tree-ripe tropical flavour is rare in long-haul fruit. Fusarium tropical race 4 threatens plantations, driving breeding and biosecurity urgency behind this monoculture clone group.
